“Is this all there is?” Have you ever asked this important question?
I’m not referring to the times we’ve said this while staring into a nearly empty Blue Bell container (Though that IS a major inquiry!!).
No, I’m talking about that point, or moment, where you stop and seriously wonder, “is … this … all … there … is …to my existence?”
Job. Family. Hobby. Career. Money (or lack of). Is that why I’m here? I believe if we’re completely honest with ourselves, we have all asked that question at one time. Some of us ask it on a daily basis.
Well, whether you’ve asked it out of desperation or boredom or just a moment of reflection, there is an answer, and here it is:
God wanted a family. In truth, He placed an intuitive knowledge inside each one of us to seek Him out (Romans 1:18-21).
It was His plan all along to create people so that He could love them and who would, of their own free will, love Him back.
That is how we started out. God created the whole earth just so we would have a place to stay. A perfect, beautiful environment for us to live in. He created the earth and everything in it (Gen. Chapter 1).
“And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let Us (God/Jesus/Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness (spiritually perfect) … ” Genesis 1:26
And He created man and then woman from man, as a help mate. Gen. 2:20 (Sorry women’s libbers. In this “perfect” world, it worked. Identity crisis did not exist for women or men. Equal pay. The vote. Laws to protect women/children. Not necessary. God’s perfect spirit indwelled in man and it was his nature to be kind, gentle and to love perfectly. Also, God had made provisions for every need, so neither man nor woman were selfish or needy).
But after the fall of mankind (Gen. 3:1-7), our perfect world became imperfect. Death entered every living thing.
When I was very young, I used to wonder why God would put us in a world with poisonous snakes, spiders, plants and insects, sharks, crocodiles, extreme heat/cold and MOSQUITOS!
Well, He didn’t. Death did not just cause a spiritual separation/rebellion towards God but it also started a chain event… a de-evolving process began, the decay of our entire environment including plants, insects and animals. Sin is deadly.
Look at this: “And God said, “See, I have given you every HERB that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; TO YOU IT SHALL BE FOR FOOD. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I HAVE GIVEN EVERY GREEN HERB FOR FOOD (Gen. 29:30.”
(Now, please don’t go getting the “Beef, it’s what’s for dinner” people against me … I LOVE CHEESEBURGERS. They just didn’t exist in Paradise.)
I believe the word of God reveals that animals became man eaters after sin/death entered the world. Plants de-evolved into poisonous entities, etc. Every living thing was now a product of a “hostile” environment and had to find ways to protect itself as did mankind.
But out of love for us, God still continues to make provisions for us and for them.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they (Matthew 6:25-26).”
Now did you catch what Jesus just said: “Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” We are three parts. spirit, soul and body, even though we are born spiritually dead (disconnected to God), our bodies/souls are still able to physically reproduce.
But we’re still spiritually dead/disconnected from God so ….
“God so loved the world (people) that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) “
Jesus lived a sinless life, fulfilled the law, died in our place and took our sins upon Himself, was raised from the dead and through His blood has now made reconciliation between God and man.
Through Christ Jesus, every single person is being given this opportunity now to be brought back to life, (reborn in the spirit), to become part of the family of God and spend eternity with Him, starting today! John Cpt. 3, Romans 10:10
We have the opportunity to become just like Adam and Eve were before sin and death entered the picture. To know God as our Heavenly Father in the spirit.
But that’s not all there is …. it’s only the beginning.
