“The Tutu Live Krewe is mourning the loss of our forever sister in spirit Lisa Blackburn who was tragically

killed at her workplace in Houston on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s husband, family, co-workers, clients, and friends as all of us struggle with the reality of her death.
Lisa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend to many, real estate leasing specialist, and a member of our Tutu Live Krewe for five years. Lisa was bright, beautiful, incredibly kind, and always helpful. She was a showstopper at all her Tutu Live Krewe appearances. Lisa’s generosity, her heart of love and service to others, her infectious smile and vibrant personality were her best accessories.
The Tutu Live Krewe is a non-profit group of women who love to dance and parade in the streets wearing tutus as we bring joy and positive energy to everyone we meet. Lisa dove into any and all Tutu Live Krewe projects and events with gusto. She lit up and warmed up a room – or a crowd gathered to watch a parade. Lisa volunteered her time and talent to assist with creating dance routines and helping her Tutu sisters to learn new dances. She helped our Krewe members add both style and substance to their parade performances. She personally made tutus for her other Tutu sisters and hosted tutu-making workshops in her home. Lisa provided leadership while serving on the Tutu board of directors as both parade captain and as a charity and volunteer coordinator.
Tonight, Feb. 13 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Market Street and 26th Street in Galveston, our Tutu Live Krewe will honor Lisa as we line up for the last Mardi Gras parade of the 2024 Galveston Mardi Gras Season. Lisa will be with us today and always. All of us who knew and loved Lisa will miss her.”
