Gulf Coast Region Blood Center Blood Drive
Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Give the gift of life at the next blood drive here at the library. To learn more about the event and to register in

Children’s Events:
Play&Learn Early Literacy Workshop
For ages 1 – 3
Fridays, August 22 and 29 at 10 a.m.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. This is a free, 5-weeklong workshop for parents or caregivers and children ages 1 – 3.
These sessions are designed to help toddlers develop early literacy skills through engaging activities such as play,
art, and music. Meet community partners to talk one-on-one on different topics. Parents/caregivers must stay

LEGO Free Build

True Crime at the Library: Who Killed the Unknown Man?
Monday, August 25 at 6 p.m.
What happens when a homicide case comes together faster than anyone could have imagined? Join us for a
gripping look at the fastest homicide case ever solved by the Texas City Police Department in 2020—cracked in
just 5½ hours from the 911 call to the arrest. Hear from Detective Sergeant Jeff Winstead, a 34-year law
enforcement veteran who currently supervises Texas City’s criminal investigations division, crime scene
investigation unit, crime suppression unit, and digital forensics lab.
