Santa Fe, Texas – The City of Santa Fe, Texas, is pleased to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded both the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual budget beginning October 1, 2025, and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2024.
These awards represent significant achievements and reflect the commitment of the City’s governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting and financial reporting. To earn the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the City’s budget document was evaluated against nationally recognized guidelines designed to assess how well it functions as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. The document was rated proficient in all four categories and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Santa Fe’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the program’s high standards, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the City’s financial story and encourage broad public understanding.
There are more than 1,900 participants in GFOA’s Budget Awards Program. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and financial reporting and serve as an example for governments throughout North America. Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 25,000 members and the communities they serve.
The City of Santa Fe is honored to once again receive this national recognition and remains committed to transparent, responsible financial management in service to its residents.
