ALMOST two years after its last live race, Gulf
Greyhound Park will bring back live racing beginning on
December 27.
The park, which opened in 1992, had its last race on
New Year’s Eve of 2015 and shut down its live racing
for all of 2016 and most of this year as the industry
has been in a tailspin. For now, their will be a limited
schedule, with races beginning at noon on Wednesdays
and Sundays and 6:00pm starts on Thursday and
Saturday. The opening three races will be held at noon
on December 27 and 29-30.
Gulf Greyhound Park will continue to run its simulcasting
for horse racing across the country, an event
it resumed in late September after Hurricane Harvey
closed the park in late August. The park will be closed
on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while the
final simulcast of 2017 will be held at 5:30pm on New
Year’s Eve.
