Feast of fish awaits as Easter Week begins
THE BEGINNING of Easter Week is blessed for area anglers, especially those fishing
for trout. Texas City is a good spot for redfish while Galveston is abundant with
whiting. Crabs are a solid source of bait, with cracked blue crabs an effective source
in Freeport.
BOLIVAR: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on soft plastics and plugs.
Black drum and redfish are good at Rollover Pass on crabs.
TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair around the wells on soft plastics. Catfish are good in the
marsh on shrimp. Redfish are fair to good on shad at the spillway.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good on topwaters and soft plastics
around mullet and shad while wading the south shoreline. Whiting and sand trout are
good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good for drifters working shell on live
shrimp. Trout are fair in the mud and shell on topwaters and Corkies in the afternoon.
Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs.
TEXAS CITY: Redfish are fair on live shrimp around the flood gates. Black drum are
good on crabs in the channel.
FREEPORT: Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs. Black
drum are good at the jetties on cracked blue crabs.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair for drifters on live shrimp over humps and
scattered shell. Redfish are good while drifting the east end mud flats on live shrimp.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Redfish are fair to good on the edge of Oyster Lake on
shrimp and crabs. Trout are fair on shell and grass on soft plastics. Black drum are
fair to good at the jetty on crabs.
