Clear Creek High School’s Carter Crookston captured the Class 6A, Region III boys’ singles title
on Thursday. Crookston will advance to the state finals along with Clear Springs’ Alli Schwartz,
who finished second in the girls’ singles division. Friendswood’s girls’ doubles team of Maura
Mitchell and Quinn Radtke and the Mustangs boys’ doubles team of Race Hass and Noah
Smistad will take part in the state 5A tennis finals.
Dickinson High School boys’ basketball star Tramon Mark announced his verbal commitment to
the University of Houston. The two-time District 24-6A Player of the Year will play his senior
season with the Gators in 2019-20 before joining the Cougars men’s basketball program.
Santa Fe High School bowlers Allie Baccinelli (left) and Ashton Wardrup recently committed to
attend Texas-San Antonio, Baccinelli, a senior, will begin with the Roadrunners this summer
while Wardrup will join her on the UTSA bowling team in the summer of 2020.
The Friendswood High School girls’ track and field team brought home the District 22-5A title
and will look to amass berths in next month’s state finals when the Mustangs compete in the
5A, Region III finals at Challenger/Columbia Stadium next Friday and Saturday.
