Tackle Time brings needed feel of familiarity

FRIDAY WILL BRING a sense of normalcy in the area as the 58th Annual Texas City-La Marque Jaycees Tackle Time Fishing Tournament begins. The event will officially get underway at 12:01am on Friday, June 26th. and will continue thru 12:00 pm on July 5, 2020.

There will be five categories in the Offshore Division, headlined by the open shark category that will net the winner $1,500 from DSW Homes and Benny’s Auto. The first-place winner in the Ling category receives $750 from AMOCO Federal Credit Union, while Kingfish will also offer a $750 payday to the winner in the category. 

The Open category will provide $500 from Texas First Bank to the winner, with the Red Snapper category resulting in $500 from 9th Street Meat Market.

Those seeking to compete in the Inshore Division will have eight categories, with Texas First Bank sponsoring the $2,500 first-place prize in Speckled Trout. South Land Title will sponsor the $500 for the biggest Flounder, while the biggest Stingray bringing in $750 from Dunn Heat Exchangers.

The Gar category has a $500 top prize, with Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation sponsoring the $200 top prize for Sheepshead. Boyd’s One Stop will sponsor the $500 top prize, while the biggest Gafftop will bring in $200 from A&A Machine & Fabrication. Hook Spit Fishing Gear sponsors the $500 prize for biggest Redfish.

Offshore registration is $35, with Inshore registration $30. Those competing in the Youth Division will require a $15 registration.
