The Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation is kicking off its 17th year as sponsor of “Our Day to Shine”. This program aids the Benevolence Fund and gives athletes, coaches and schools a great opportunity for community service as well as an opportunity to give to a worthy cause.
Schools will designate one of their scrimmages as “Our Day to Shine” and gate receipts (less expenses) are donated to the THSCEF Benevolence Fund. Participating schools are recognized in the Texas Coach magazine, the official publication of the Texas High School Coaches Association. All sports are encouraged to participate.
To date “Our Day to Shine” has involved over 1,100 schools and raised over $721,000 for the THSCEF Benevolence. The THSCEF has paid $641,000 to athletes and coaches in need.
The THSCEF Benevolence Fund allows us to help beyond our present permanent injury and memorial benefits policies that currently dictate what we can give to help student athletes experiencing hardships. The association receives numerous requests for special assistance and this fund will help us assist these special cases for athletes and coaches.
