NEW MONTH, SAME BUSY SCHEDULE

January has come and gone in a blink, opening the door for very busy first week of February that starts with basketball, soccer and softball scrimmages. Tuesday is the appetizer, as Wednesday brings in National Signing Day, while Thursday will offer up the results of the latest realignment from the UIL.

Sunday: Nothing on the schedule.

Monday: The last of January will be loaded with high school golf, as Clear Brook’s girls’ team hosts a meet at Timber Creek that includes Clear Creek and Clear Springs. Texas City’s girls will be in action at South Shore Harbour Country Club, while the Texas City boys’ take part in a meet at Bay Oaks Golf Club that is hosted by Clear Lake.

The Rockers close out the month with a visit from MVP candidate Stephen Curry and the Warriors. Tip is just after 7:00pm, with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest beginning its coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.

Tuesday: Oh, the new month starts with a stuffed slate of action, beginning with a boys’ basketball schedule that has state-ranked Hitchcock at Van Vleck at 5:00pm, followed by Needville at state-ranked La Marque at 6:30pm. In a clash of state-ranked teams, Clear Brook visits Dickinson, along with Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Brazoswood at Clear Springs, Baytown Lee at Friendswood and Santa Fe at Galveston Ball each starting at 7:00pm.

The girls’ hoops slate begins with La Marque at Needville at 6:00pm, while Brazos at Hitchcock starts at 6:30pm. State-ranked Clear Brook at Dickinson, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Brazoswood, Friendswood at Baytown Lee and Galveston Ball at Santa Fe each start its respective games at 7:00pm.

Meanwhile, the boys’ high school soccer schedule has Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Falls at Clear Springs, Dickinson at Brazoswood, Friendswood at Baytown Lee and Santa Fe at Galveston Ball start at 7:30pm.

The girls’ high school soccer slate has Clear Creek at Clear Brook, Clear Springs at Clear Falls, Brazoswood at Dickinson, Baytown Lee at Friendswood and Galveston at Santa Fe each kicking off at 7:30pm.

Softball scrimmages warm up with Hitchcock at Brookshire Royal at 4:30pm, followed by Dobie at Dickinson at 5:00pm and Dawson at Friendswood at 5:30pm.Galveston Ball at Danbury and South Houston at Texas City get underway at 6:
