April Showers Brings May Flowers for Area Track & Field Performers

Yes, there is the NFL Draft, but the final days of April also means the final regular season games of the high school baseball regular season along with the regional finals in track and field, where the top qualifiers will be Austin bound for a chance to win a state title next month.

Wednesday: Both AT&T Sportsnet Southwest and Bally’s Sports Southwest will have coverage of the Astros and Rangers at 7:05pm. Both networks start their respective pregame shows at 6:30pm.

Thursday: The Astros conclude their series at the Rangers starting at 1:05pm. It’s double the viewing pleasure with AT&T Sportsnet Southwest (Astros) and Bally’s Sports Southwest (Rangers) each starting coverage at 12:30pm with the pregame show.

Friday: The final night of the high school baseball regular season will have Clear Springs at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at North Shore, Brazoswood at Clear Falls, Clear Lake at Dickinson, Texas City at Friendswood, Galveston Ball at La Porte, Sweeny at La Marque and Santa Fe at Baytown Lee each starting at 6:00pm.

La Marque will be among the 4A teams competing in the Region IV track and field finals at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville. The meet will conclude on Saturday.

The 5A and 6A track and field teams will be closer for viewing as they compete at Turner Stadium in Humble. The best of the best will find their way in Austin for the state finals in Austin on May 12-14.

The Astros head up to Canada to collide with the Blue Jays in the first of a weekend series. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 5:30pm with the pregame show, leading into the 6:07pm gametime.

Saturday: It’s an intrastate clash as the Dynamo welcomes Austin for a 12:30pm match at PNC Stadium. 

April closes out for the Astros with a 2:07pm contest at the Blue Jays. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage at 1:30pm.
