FIND COMFORT OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Do you need a chiropractor? Do you require acupuncture

treatment? If you answered yes to one or

both of these questions, then keep reading. Because

I am here to tell you about a clinic that specializes in

both of these.

The clinic I am talking about is Yin & Yang Health care.

Located at 903 South Friendswood Drive in

Friendswood, the clinic provides “a unique integrated

Chinese and western medicine with no medication

and no surgery to the community for the prevention

and treatment of common diseases.”

The clinic is ran by Dr. Hui Ouyang. Dr. Ouyang,

or Dr. O as he is known to staff and patients alike,

grew up in China. While in China, he completed a

five year program where he majored in acupuncture

and traditional Chinese medicine. After graduating

in 1993 and earning his M.D. degree, he began six

years of residency training in TCM Orthopedics and

“accumulated extensive clinic experience on Chinese

medicine specializing in acupuncture for pain management.”

He moved to America in 1999, which is

when he began working as a research fellow at the

University Of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. At

the same time, he was also a research scientist in the

Transneuronix research company. After passing the

required examinations on acupuncture and herbology,

Dr. O became certified and was designated as a

Licensed Acupuncturist in Texas.

In 2005, Dr. O decided to go back to school and

began attending Texas Chiropractic College in Pasa dena,

and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in

2008. He also “also serves as a

professor of Doctoral program of Acupuncture and

Oriental Medicine (DAOM) at

American College of Acupuncture & Oriental

Medicine (ACAOM), American Academy

of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AAAOM)

and American College of Traditional

Chinese Medicine (ACTCM). The courses he

teaches include the integrative medicine

programs of master and doctoral degree, especially

on acupuncture and manipulations.” He has also

had articles published in several prestigious medical

journals, has several years of teaching, clinical

and research experience, and has received several

awards—including the Outstanding Service Award by

Transneuronix and the Poster Of Distinction on Di gestive

Disease Week 2004. He is also a member of

several associations, including the Texas Association

Of Acupuncture And Oriental Medicine, the Texas

Chiropractic Association and the Traditional Chinese

Medicine American Alumni Association.

So, when it comes to the chiropractic and acupuncture

treatment, the biggest question is—is it safe? And

the short answer is yes. According to flyers provided

to me by the clinic,

if the treatment is

done properly and

by a skilled professional,

then it will

not hurt. However,

with acupuncture,

“patients may feel

a pinch or sting,

followed by some

pressure, burning

or tingling sensations.”

And when

it comes to chiropractic

treatment,

“minor muscle

soreness may occur

following an

adjustment, similar

to a feeling you

may get after working

out at the gym.”

But this soreness

usually will disappear

within 12 to 48

hours and can be

lessened by using

ice, drinking water

and eating a high

protein meal. Oh

and want to hear

something really

cool? “The main

players with sports

injuries, from the

Houston Dynamo

soccer team got

great benefit from

his treatments.”

Yin & Yang

Healthcare is open
