ReStore – a Bargain Hunter’s Paradise!

Bay Area Habitat for Humanity, if you did not know, builds houses…all over Galveston County. They build homes for struggling young families; they build houses for Harvey victims. And in the process they acquire tons of “stuff” – donations, unused paint and lumber, salvaged bathtubs and screen doors and they find new homes for these items at their ReStore.

Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers. The items they sell are available to the public and similar to what you may see in other home goods stores, such as a brand-new box of tile you’ve been needing for your bathroom project or a vintage treasure you won’t find anywhere else. However, Habitat ReStores are more than just resale stores.

The purpose of Habitat ReStores is to contribute to the work of Habitat for Humanity. When you support your local ReStore by shopping, donating or volunteering, you are not only supporting your local community, you’re also helping the mission to provide decent shelter to everyone around the world.

“Located off I45, the Webster ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. We provide a unique experience for our local community to keep usable items out of landfills while also raising money to help our neighbors. The ReStore is the core operating fund for our Bay Area- Houston Habitat for Humanity Affiliate. Every donation given, every item purchased, and every hour that’s volunteered goes back to hurricane Harvey relief as well as affordable home improvement in OUR local area.

We are DIY enthusiasts, “fix it” extraordinaries, and treasure hunters. Part of our mission in providing affordable home improvement we have partnerships with local businesses to provide affordable and dependable items as well as  for our neighbors! When you shop here not only do you build a stronger community but we also keep our landfills clear of recyclable items and educate our neighbors on how to do the same! “ said Kat Garcia, ReStore Director

When I went to visit our ReStore, located conveniently just off 45 at NASA Parkway, I was stunned to find an enormous space filled with just about anything you can imagine. From furniture, to lighting, to fine china to school supplies to you guessed it – the kitchen sink…lots of kitchen sinks! This place is a DIYers dream store and the staff is helpful, creative, and really knowledgeable.

If you have not been to ReStore there is a genuine treat waiting for you. The General Manager is named KAT, alias The Energizer Bunny, and she can answer just about any question you might have. Right now, if you stop by, be sure to pick up a Teacher’s Goody Bag for only $5 for your kid’s favorite teacher. They are open from 10 am to 6:pm, Monday thru Saturday. Oh, and if you are of a mind to volunteer, no problem, they can hook you right up!

And if you are an Educator, you get a special treat!  For the entire month of August any educator with a valid ID receives an additional 15% off any purchase!
