
THE START OF THE NEW week will see both the Texans and La Marque High School in search of their first football victory of the 2020 season, while the usual Tuesday night volleyball schedule will have each team in district play for the first time this season.
Sunday: If the Texans want to avoid an 0-3 start, they’ll have to do so at the expense of Ben Roethlisberger and the host Steelers. Kickoff is at 12:00pm and will be aired live on KHOU-11. Pittsburgh leads the head-to-head series with a 4-2 edge, having won each of the past two matchups.
The Cowboys get the national spotlight when Dak Prescott and company visits Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in a matchup of elite quarterbacks. KRIV-26 will have the game starting at 3:25pm as its National Game of the Week. Dallas leads the series 10-8 including a 24-22 win in the NFC Wild Card game last season.
Framber Valdez (5-3, 3.57 ERA) gets the start in the Astros’ regular season finale against the Rangers beginning at 2:05pm. Former Astro Jordan Lyles (1-6, 7.08 ERA) makes the start for Texas. Both AT&T Sportsnet Southwest (Astros) and Fox Sports Net Southwest (Rangers) will each have the game live beginning with their respective pregame shows at 1:30pm.
Monday: No major events on the schedule
Tuesday: Yes, there will be Tuesday Night Football when La Marque visits Huffman-Hargrave at 6:00pm. The game was originally scheduled for this past Friday but was postponed due to field conditions at Huffman-Hargrave’s new field.
The usual Tuesday evening volleyball schedule starts with Clear Brook at Clear Lake, Brazoswood at Clear Creek, Dickinson at Clear Falls and Hitchcock at Danbury at 6:00pm. State-ranked Friendswood at Goose Creek Memorial, Galveston Ball at Baytown Lee, Santa Fe at Baytown Sterling and La Marque at Bay City each start their matches at 6:30pm.
