Victory is in Your Praise

When your world seems to be falling apart, when you are in crisis and have run out of options with no way of escape, who do you call?  Not the comic book heroes like Superman or Wonder Woman. Not your best friend, because last week they were telling you about their problems that were out of control. Not your parents because you believe they don’t understand your go through or can’t relate.  I often suggest Psalm 121:1–“look to the hills from where your help comes from, the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Since He made heaven and earth, I believe He knows all things and can take care of my issues.

It’s time to turn to the creator God, who created us to worship Him.

The first step is to check your relationship with Him. If it’s shaky, recommit to Him and then begin to tell God who He is to you and how much power and authority He has. When you rehearse this, you will begin to see your troubles deflate and your faith in God grow bigger.  Psalm 34:1 tells us to “bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Your praise is an outward showing that you value and respect God. Psalm 34:3 tells us to “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Because of God’s goodness and mercy, we want others to participate. We don’t want to have a blessed victorious life all by ourselves. Psalm 34:4 reads, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

These scriptures tell me to continually have praises to the Lord coming out of my mouth. And whenever I seek and call on Him, He hears me and delivers me from my fears. So, if I do what the Word of God says, He will take care of me and my crisis. When we pray to God and praise Him, we are giving Him our problems to take care of. We are also saying that God is bigger than our problems.

God inhabits the praise of His people. When we praise God, He enjoys it. Praise can be with your mouth or with instruments. In Joshua 6:14-15, “Joshua led the people by instructions of God to march, play the trumpets and shout. On the seventh day the entire wall around the city of Jericho fell flat.” What walls do you need God to knock down?

In Acts 16:25-26, Paul and Silas are in jail singing praises to God. God caused an earthquake, and the prison doors opened to set them free. What doors do you need God to open for you?

It’s in your praise that God can flatten or move your mountains. It’s in your praise that God can bring the prodigal child back home. It’s in your praise that God can go into your sick room and heal you. The medical field has documentation from research that music can heal the mind, body and spirit.  When you begin to praise, you take your mind off the situation. You begin to focus on how good God is. Your stress begins to diminish. So, let’s get our praise on.
