Sabine Lake: GOOD. 82 degrees. High salinity levels in the lake is bringing in the bait fish. Redfish are in the ICW on rock piles, points and drops 15-25 feet of water biting on live shrimp under a popping cork, and red shad swimbaits with a quarter ounce jigs. Speckled trout are good in ICW and Texaco Islands in 14-25 feet of water using morning glory chartreuse or red shad 4-5 inch swimbaits. Neches river is good for redfish in 25 feet of water. Bessie Heights holding slot redfish and speckled trout on the flats, cuts, points and drops-offs. North Levy along the rocks to second pike topwater swimbaits producing trout. Bolivar: GOOD. 84 degrees. Goat Island holding redfish using Carolina rigged live mullet, artificials, or live shrimp under a popping cork. Trout, redfish, and sheepshead are good against the rocks with live shrimp under a popping cork or a Carolina rigged with croaker. West beach holding small shark and lady fish with the occasional redfish or trout fished on the bottom. East beach as the green water gets closer look for nice speckled trout, redfish and pompano right off the second sandbar. Biting on Carolina rigged croaker with the chatter rattle. East Galveston Bay: GOOD. 86 degrees. Scattered catches of speckled trout in the open bay, under diving seagulls. Soft plastic lure working the best. Galveston Bay: GOOD. 85 degrees. Protected shoreline areas near Moses Lake and Eagle Point holding some speckled trout biting best on live croaker or shrimp. West Galveston Bay: GOOD. 88 degrees. Galveston Causeway Bridge and Railroad Bridge holding decent speckled trout with the best bite on live croaker. The rock groins at Campbell’s Bayou and Shoal Point holding some trout with the occasional redfish on live shrimp. Those still wading the protected shorelines in west Galveston Bay with live croakers are catching their fair share of trout and redfish. Texas City: GOOD. 84 degrees. Offshore fishing has been put on hold, except for those boats and anglers brave enough to fish the rough seas. Good snapper being caught, along with a few kingfish. Catches in the Galveston jetties have mostly consisted of redfish and black tip sharks. Fresh dead shad and mullet has been the beast bait. Freeport: GOOD. 84 degrees. Redfish are good in the San Luis Pass with live mullet, croaker or shrimp. Trout are good at the bridge using mullet, shrimp and live croaker. Port O’Connor: GOOD. 83 degrees. Trout are good using live croaker in 2-4 feet of water. Redfish are slow on live shrimp and sardines. Black drum are good on dead shrimp. Rockport: GREAT. 82 degrees. Redfish are great in 2-6 feet of water in sand pockets on menhaden. Drifting with soft plastics is also working well. Trout are good in 2-6 feet of water on live shrimp and soft plastics. Drum are good in 2-6 feet of water on dead shrimp.
