TODAY, WEDNESDAY: There are no games on the schedule, so it’s a good
time to salute four members of the Texas City softball team who recently signed
letters of intent to play collegiately. Jade Arroyo (Mississippi Valley State), Sydney
Moore (Alvin Community College), Alexa Mull (Alvin Community College) and Lily
Reid (Chestnut Hill College) will be attending their respective schools as studentathletes
once they graduate from Texas City next spring.

with Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Friendswood and Texas City at the Pride of Texas
Tournament in Corpus Christi. State-ranked Dickinson is at the Hidalgo Pirate
Classic, while Hitchcock is at the Sweeney tourney and state-ranked La Marque
making their way to the Orangefield Tournament.
The Rockets are also in action as the team sporting the best record in the Western
Conference facing the Jazz in a nationally televised game on TNT. Tipoff will begin
shortly after 9:30pm once the Lakers-76ers are finished in the first game of the
double-header.
FRIDAY: Girls action tips off when Brazosport meets state-ranked Hitchcock at
6:15 pm, which District 23-5A continues as Santa Fe travels to Fort Bend Marshall
and Texas City at Fort Bend Elkins both starting at 7:00pm. The final non-district
games before the start of the 24-6A regular season opener on Tuesday will have
Clear Brook at Dobie, Pearland at Clear Springs, Friendswood at South Houston
and Alief Elsik at Dickinson each starts at 7:00pm. Meanwhile, La Marque will be
at the Anahuac Tournament for the two-day event.
In boys hoops action, Galveston Ball meets Clear Brook at 7:00pm.
Saturday: The Rockets conclude their three-game swing on the west coast when
they visit the Trail Blazers for a 9:00pm start. This will be the first meeting this
season between the two teams, as Portland will make their first appearance at
Toyota Center on January 10.
