COLLEGE OF THE MAINLAND OFFERING TWO FREE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

OCT. 18, 2018 College of the Mainland Offering Two

Free Musical Performances (Texas City)— College

of the Mainland is featuring two musical recitals this

month which are free and open to the public. On

Thursday, Oct. 25, the COM Guitar Orchestra will

present “Monster Musik” with renditions from John

Williams, Seth Roach, Joseph Haydn, John Carpenter,

Shawn Bell and The Doors among others. The

recital is being held in the COM Fine Arts recital hall

on campus at 1200 Amburn Road in Texas City. The

performance begins at 7:30 p.m. public.

Members of the COM Jazz Ensemble will be featured

during a concert on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Selections

for the evening will include arrangements by

Quincy Jones, Stan Kenton Orchestra, Count Basie,

Thad Jones, Gordon Goodwin, Phat Band and others.

Featured players will include Theron Sharp on tenor

saxophone, Gary Lively on alto saxophone and Terry

Dunn on trumpet. The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction

of Sparky Koerner. The concert is scheduled

for 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts recital hall. For more information,
