HIGH SCHOOL girls’ basketball is the highlight of a weekend that will see both
the Rockets and Texans in action on Saturday. The end of the week also see the
Lakers and the best player in the world dropping in on James Harden and Friends
on a nationally televised clash.
WEDNESDAY: Clear Springs’ junior varsity team and Texas City’s #2 varsity
squad will be among the boys’ golf teams taking part in a meet at Pasadena Municipal
Golf Course. Pasadena Memorial will be the host team.
THURSDAY: Decked in new colors, The King makes his first appearance to Toyota
Center as LeBron James and the Lakers visit the Rockets for a 7:00pm game
that will be nationally televised by TNT. Houston won the first meeting this season
between the two with a 125-115 decision at Los Angeles on October 20.
FRIDAY: The high school girls’ basketball schedule starts at 6:15pm when Danbury
visits Hitchcock in the District 24-3A opener for the Bulldogs. In District
24-6A play, Clear Falls is at Clear Brook and Clear Creek at Dickinson each start
at 7:00pm. The District 22-5A schedule includes Friendswood at Goose Creek
Memorial, Galena Park at Santa Fe and Galveston Ball at Texas City, with each
contest tipping off at 7:00pm.
In boys’ basketball action, Texas City at Hitchcock, Galveston Ball at state-ranked
La Marque and Clear Springs at Rosenberg Terry start at 7:00pm, with Strake
Jesuit at Friendswood beginning at 7:30pm.
SATURDAY: There is one boys’ high school basketball game on the slate, as
Katy Taylor visits Clear Brook at 2:00pm.
In a rare Saturday afternoon contest, the Texans take their 9-4 record on the
road to take on the Jets (4-9) beginning at 3:30pm. Houston will look to rebound
from Sunday’s 24-14 loss to Indianapolis, while New York seeks to play the role
of postseason spoiler. NFL Network will have the game live, while KTRK 13 will
offer a simulcast.
After a brief two-game home stand, the Rockets revert to Road Warriors mode
when they visit the surprising Grizzlies at 7:00pm. It is the first of two meetings
this month against Memphis, which entered the week with a 15-10 record. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will begin its coverage with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
