Galveston County Master Gardener Karolyn Gephart will present and lead a discussion on Container Gardening in our Gulf Coast Region.  Topics covered will be practical and useful, and will include environment planting, locations, plant categories, maintenance, benefits, and more.  In addition Gephart, along with GCMG Kaye Corey who will also represent Keep Friendswood Beautiful, will be demonstrating how to prepare the container and insert the plant which will be given away via raffle during the program.

Galveston County Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Deborah Repasz’s presentation will include important information about the flight and fight for survival of the hummingbird in Galveston County.  The presentation will highlight ways to increase hummingbird sightings in your yard by creating inviting habitat, including examples of shelter, food, and water, plus a discussion of the impact of pesticide usage.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Dr. William M. Johnson, Galveston County Extension Agent for Horticulture, will give a program on beneficial insects and other types of beneficials commonly found in Galveston County home landscapes and gardens.  Knowing your garden friends can remove the anxiety of “Do I need to spray an insecticide?”
