Expect delays as FM 646 bridge at I-45 is closed for six months
The demolition of the FM 646 bridge over the main lanes on I-45 took place this past weekend as part of the I-45 expansion project between FM 518 to FM 517 in the Dickinson and League City area.
Dickinson ISD parents are encouraged to make plans for delays in the area as they are getting their students to and from school. This will especially be the case the week of March 4-8 as motorists adjust to the change. Bus routes in the FM 646 area will be affected. Bus drivers began driving new routes last week to practice avoiding the FM 646 bridge; however, times may be slightly off this week as other motorists adjust their routes and fill the feeder and other roads to avoid the area.
Rebuilding the FM 646 and I-45 passage is expected to take approximately six months. Once complete, motorists traveling on FM 646 will pass underneath I-45.
