Tax & Voter Registration Deadlines Approaching

Don’t miss the following important property tax and voter registration deadlines as well as the 2019 Effectively Protest Your Property Value class schedule.  Mark your calendars!

April 1st Second Installment deadline for 2018 property taxes for seniors, disabled persons, disabled
  vets, surviving spouses of disabled vets and those taking advantage of disaster installments

April 4^th Last day to register to vote (or update address information) for May 4^th local elections

April 25^th Effectively Protest Value Class, United Way Training Facility, 2800 Texas Avenue in Texas
                            City starting at 9 am

April 30^th Effectively Protest Value Class, League City Council Chambers, 200 West Walker in League
                            City starting at 6 pm

May 2^nd ​Effectively Protest Value, Learning Resource Center (Room L-131), College of the                  
                             Mainland, 1200 Amburn Road in Texas City starting at 6 pm

May 7^th Effectively Protest Value Class, Commissioner Courtroom 2nd floor County Courthouse,
                             722 Moody in Galveston starting at 6 pm

May 15^th Deadline to call to schedule protest meeting, mail protest form or file online protest at

   County Appraisal District

Voter registration applications are available at all County Tax Office branches (8 am to 5 pm in Galveston, League City, Santa Fe and Texas City and satellite offices in Friendswood open every Thursday and Friday and Crystal Beach from 8 am to 4:30 pm the third Tuesday of each month), the Voter Registration Department in Galveston or online at www.galcotax.com (under the Voter Registration tab).  We are more than happy to mail or email at application to you.  Call the Voter Registration Department toll free at

Tax payments may be mailed to GCTO, PO Box 1169, Galveston, Texas 77553, left in GCTO drop boxes (outside each full time branch location) or paid online (www.galcotax.com) via electronic check ($1 fee) or credit card (2.5% merchant fee).  Credit card telephone payments are possible by calling 1-866-865-1433 (English) or 1-866-865-1435 (Spanish).  For directions or locations, call the GCTO Administration Department at 1-877-766-2284.
