Stretch run awaits high school soccer teams
WITH SPRING BREAK OVER, the normal Tuesday night of high school sports returns, with the
final week of the soccer regular season being the highlight of the night. The new week also
includes high school golf teams prepare for district championship meets while high school
baseball and softball continues to heat up.
Sunday: The Rockets conclude a four-game home stand when the Timberwolves come to
Toyota Center for an 8:00pm tip that will also be televised nationally on ESPN. AT&T Sportsnet
Southwest will also have the game beginning with their pregame show at 7:30pm.
The Astros will play the Braves in spring training baseball starting at 12:05pm. No television for
this one, but KBME 790AM will have the radio broadcast.
Monday: As the calendar moves closer to April, high school golf teams look to bring their games
to another level. That will be the case for the Clear Creek and Clear Falls boys’ teams, who will
take part in a district preview event at Eagle Point Country Club in Mount Belvieu. Meanwhile,
Clear Brook and Texas City will be involved in a meet at Moody Gardens Golf Club with
Galveston Ball playing the role of host school.
Tuesday: The final week of the high school soccer regular season looms for both boys’ and girls’
teams. The boys’ schedule will see Friendswood at Baytown Lee, Alvin at Clear Brook, Clear Falls
at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Lake, Galveston Ball at Goose Creek Memorial, Crosby at
Santa Fe and Galena Park at Texas City each beginning at 7:30pm, while the girls’ slate will have
Clear Brook at Alvin, Clear Creek at Clear Falls, Clear Lake at Clear Springs, Santa Fe at Crosby,
Baytown Lee at Friendswood, Texas City at Galena Park and Goose Creek Memorial at
Galveston Ball each starting at 7:30pm.
In high school baseball, Clear Falls at Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Dickinson, Crosby at Galveston
Ball and La Marque at Wharton each start at 6:00pm. Galena Park at Friendswood, Texas City at
Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Lee at Santa Fe and Hitchcock at Tidehaven will each get going
at 7:00pm.
The high school girls’ softball schedule will start with Hitchcock at Tidehaven at 5:30pm,
followed by Dickinson at Clear Brook, Clear Lake at Clear Falls, Alvin at Clear Springs, La Marque
at Columbia, Texas City at Crosby, Galveston Ball at Friendswood and Goose Creek Memorial at
Santa Fe beginning at 6:30pm. The evening wraps up with Bay City at Clear Creek at 6:45pm.
The District 24-6A girls’ golf teams will be at Galveston Country Club in what will be a district
preview prior to the district tourney that will be held at Eagle Pointe Golf Club next Monday
and Tuesday.
Texas City’s water polo team hits the road when they take on Clear Creek at 6:00pm.
The Rockets open a run of four road games over the next two weeks when they visit the Hawks
beginning at 6:30pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start their coverage with the pregame
show at 6:00pm.
AT&T Sportsnet Southwest’s day begins earlier when they air the Astros taking on the Phillies at
12:05pm. The pregame show will start at 11:30am.
