In Solemn and Deep Gratitude During This Time of Great Loss
A two-day search that covered over 650 miles, finally discovered the body of Kemah Police Chief Chris Reed about a mile and a half north of the Texas City Dike Sunday morning. Knocked overboard Friday by a wake from another boat, Chief Reed was apparently not wearing a life jacket at that moment.
Director of Texas City’s Emergency Management, Tom Munoz announced that he had been found early Sunday morning. “We are a tight community here. He is one of ours.” said Texas City Police Chief Joe Stanton Friday evening as the search continued. Untold numbers of First Responders from twenty-three area Civil Service organizations joined the search to bring Chief Reed home to his family and friends.
