Spring break approaches with a host of sporting events throughout the
area. The final weekend of high school baseball tournaments are among
them, with the highlight being the annual Ruben C. Jordan Invitational
track and field meet that will see a host of potential state contenders
squaring off.
WEDNESDAY: Texas City’s girls’ golf team takes part in a tourney at Stonebridge Golf Course. Crosby High School plays the role of host team.
THURSDAY: In high school baseball, Clear Brook is at the Alvin Tournament,
while Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Dickinson and Santa Fe are each at the Goose
Creek ISD Invitational.
Friendswood plays host to the Mustang Relays, a track and field meet that will
also include Texas City. Hitchcock’s track and field team travels to Van Vleck.
Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs’ girls’ golf teams are among those
competing at Glenlock Pines Golf Course in a two-day event that is hosted by
Klein High School.
There’s high school tennis on the schedule as Clear Springs is at Manvel as part
of the Lamar Varsity meet beginning at 6:30am.
Hitchcock’s boys’ powerlifting team will be part of the Region 4, Division 3 championships, which will be held at West Hardin High School at 8:00am.
FRIDAY: The high school softball schedule will have Stafford at La Marque at
5:00pm, followed by Clear Brook at Clear Creek, Clear Springs at Clear Falls,
state-ranked Dickinson at Brazoswood, Baytown Lee at Galveston Ball and
state-ranked Santa Fe at Texas City each starting at 6:30pm.
Hitchcock’s baseball team starts the day’s schedule with a double-header
at East Chambers, with games beginning at 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Manvel at
Galveston Ball also starts at 4:00pm, while state-ranked Friendswood at La
Porte and Baytown Sterling at Texas City each starts at 6:00pm.
Dickinson and Santa Fe will be among the track and field teams joining each of
the CCISD high schools in the annual Ruben C. Jordan Invitational. Meanwhile,
La Marque will be off to Bay City to compete in that school’s invitational meet.
The high school boys’ soccer schedule has La Marque at Huffman-Hargrave
beginning at 5:00pm, followed by Friendswood at Baytown Sterling, La Porte
at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City each starting at 7:30pm.
On the high school girls’ soccer side of the slate, La Marque at Huffman-Hargrave kicks off at 5:00pm, with Santa Fe at La Porte beginning at 6:00pm. Baytown Sterling at Friendswood and Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial each
start at 7:30pm.
SATURDAY: In high school softball, Clear Brook at Brazoswood is at 12:00pm,
with Clear Creek at Clear Springs and Clear Falls at Clear Lake starting at
6:30pm.
