This week marks the final week of the high school baseball schedule while also adding the Astros and Rangers facing off for the first time this season. The big news locally is the Clear Springs mixed doubles tennis team bidding for a state title.
Sunday: The Astros conclude their weekend set against the Blue Jays at 1:10pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will have the pregame show starting at 12:30pm. The game will also be part of the ESPN+ package (gotta pay for that, kiddies).
Monday: Texas City High School’s swimming and water polo teams will celebrate its season with the annual banquet at Nessler Center at 6:00pm.
It’s up I-45 for the Astros, who open a three-game series at the Rangers starting at 7:05pm. Both AT&T Sportsnet Southwest (Astros) and Fox Sports Southwest (Rangers) will each start its respective coverage with pregame shows at 6:30pm.
Tuesday: It’s the final week of the high school baseball regular season as playoff spots remain wide open for a number of teams in the area. Clear Falls at Clear Creek, Dickinson at Clear Springs, Goose Creek Memorial at Galveston Ball and La Porte at Texas City each start at 6:00pm. Friendswood at Santa Fe begins at 7:00pm.
Clear Springs’ Allison Schwartz and Rohsin Kamath will bid for the Class 6A mixed doubles title when the pair take on College Park’s Hallie Lower and Jeremy Cortes in the quarterfinals of the state tennis championships, which will be held at the Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio. The match takes place at 10:30am. A win by Schwartz and Kamath would move the duo one step closer to the championship match, which will be held on Wednesday.
It’s up I-45 for the Astros for the second of the three-game set at the Rangers starting at 7:05pm. Both AT&T Sportsnet Southwest (Astros) and Fox Sports Southwest (Rangers) will each start its respective coverage with pregame shows at 6:30pm.
