Today is a different time from days past. As a young man, I did things much different from the kids today. I don’t expect today’s children to live as we did, however I do expect them to live. Not just live, but to live on purpose. Every single person that God allows to come into this world comes in with a purpose.
It’s been said by many parents, “I just want my children to have what I didn’t have”. Well, ask yourself what it is that you didn’t have that allows them to have a better life. Our children are under attack, and parents are so focused on themselves, they don’t see the battle the children are in. I was drafted into the military, and I served during two wars. So I do know what war all is about. Its effect can be brutal, ugly, and devastating plus many lives are lost.
Today, children are having to battle on so many fronts. Drugs, alcohol, gang violence, peer pressure, sexual temptation just to name a few. Most parents aren’t even aware of what their children are dealing with. Parents are expecting everyone else to fix what their children are dealing with rather than addressing the issue themselves. There’s a spiritual battle and a physical battle going on at the same time, and they are losing both. Spiritually, they are under attack from all sides, not to mention occult practices and new age mysticism.
Physically, they’re encountering verbal abuse, physical threats, sexual assaults and demonic oppression. Children are falling by the wayside every second because of adults’ failure to come to their aid. It’s as if we’re stunned and frozen because of the challenge of defending our faith. Fear of saying that Jesus is Lord, and that God is sovereign and in control. If you are a Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ, you should be standing in the gap on behalf of not only your children but children everywhere.
Psalm 127:3-5 Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a reward from him. The children born to a man when he is young are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
Stop retreating and go forward in faith knowing that God will protect you. Pray daily, lay hands on your children, and declare what God has said. “No weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue which raises against them in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17
The devil has declared war on our children and marriages. We must take a firm stance. Don’t close your eyes and pretend that it isn’t happening. It’s not going anywhere until you face it head on in the power that God has given you. Now is the time to take up the full armor of God and protect what belongs to Him which is “family.” As believers, we have been equipped with what we need to go to war.
Ephesians 6:11-13 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly place. We must take a stand and defend what is right without compromising just to get along.
