Galveston Art League, a nonprofit organization, holds three juried competitions every year; the next one will be in September, with entries due Aug. 29. Guidelines for each competition are posted on www.GalvestonArtLeague.com (click on Exhibits) in a prospectus a few weeks before each competition.

Artists do not need to be a member of Galveston Art League to enter these competitions, but members do receive a discount off their entry fees. League membership fees are tax-deductible; to see a list of membership levels and fees, visit www.GalvestonArtLeague.com  and click on “Get Involved.”

Galveston Art League was founded in June 1914 for the purpose of promoting visual arts and art education in the county and larger region. The league has never had a salaried employee on staff; volunteers take care of all functions, from staffing the gallery, hanging exhibits that change each month, governing the organization, and fundraising. The Art League depends on membership fees, gallery sales, contributions, and an annual fundraiser gala to finance its operations.
