
Sabine Lake: GOOD. 78 degrees. Sabine Lake is stained from high winds. ICW is holding nice sized trout up to 20 inches biting ¼ ounce jigs with red shad 5 inch swimbaits. Redfish are good in Keith Lake, Salt Lake, and Mud Lake drifting over shelf reefs with live shrimp under a popping cork. Sabine channels and jetties picking up for redfish with a good early morning topwater bite switching to swimbaits along rocks until mid morning. In the ship Chanel focus off points in 3-5 feet of water throwing morning glory jigs with a chartreuse tail. Flounder are good on white gulp shrimp with ¼ ounce jigs. Bolivar: GOOD. 82 degrees. As the water clears the fish will move closer to the surf. Trout and redfish are hitting Carolina rigs with croaker and shrimp under a popping cork. Trout, sheepshead, and redfish with an occasional pompano are biting shrimp under a popping cork working close to the rock on the beach side of the jetty. Trinity Bay: GOOD. 82 degrees. Smith Point remains off-colored, but there is drum over the shell reefs. West shoreline has been good from the spillway to Dow’s Reef. East Galveston Bay: GOOD. 83 degrees. Some of the open bay reefs remain off-colored. Those anglers finding areas of decent water are catching speckled trout and the occasional redfish. Soft plastics and live shrimp working the best. Report by Captain David Dillman, Galveston Bay Charter Fishing.
Galveston Bay: GOOD. 82 degrees. The west shoreline has been the best and when conditions allow easy limits of speckled trout are being caught on live shrimp and croakers. West Galveston Bay: GOOD. 84 degrees. Anglers drifting over the deeper shell reefs are finding success using live shrimp and croakers. Some nice catches of flounder have come off the grassy marsh shorelines. Report by Captain David Dillman, Galveston Bay Charter Fishing.
Texas City: GOOD. 81 degrees. Galveston jetties fair for scattered catches of speckled trout on live shrimp. Bull redfish are still dominating the action at the jetties on fresh dead shad. Lower bay between the Causeway bridge and Sand Island good for speckled trout on live bait and soft plastics. Birds have been working over schools of trout in this area. The drift between Dollar Point and Mosquito Island is holding trout and a few redfish biting artificial or live shrimp under a popping cork. The Dike is holding trout close to the rocks early morning, working redfish on the beach side. Moses Bay continues to hold redfish and trout under the birds and against the shoreline. Freeport: GOOD. 82 degrees. Redfish are good in the San Luis Pass with live mullet croaker and live shrimp. Trout are good at the bridge using mullet, shrimp and live croaker. Lady fish are biting well in the pass and are fun to catch and good for bait. River is good for flounder, redfish and drum. Redfish gigging at night is producing good numbers. Port O’Connor: GOOD. 82 degrees. Good action on trout up to 25 inches using live croaker. Redfish bite is very good on sardines and dead shrimp. Black drum are fair on dead shrimp. Migratory fish are starting to show up biting whatever you throw. Bull redfish are good on live croaker and sardines.
