Thursday begins the final weekend of high school football play before the state postseason kicks off next weekend. Friday marks the opening night of high school basketball season with each of the state’s teams holding hopes for a state title run.
Wednesday: Clear Brook at Clear Creek’s swim meet begins at 5:00pm.
The Rockets host the Hornets at 7:00pm. Space City Sports Network begins the pregame show at 6:30pm.
Thursday: Galveston Ball begins the final week of the high school football schedule when the Tors host Houston Wisdom at 7:00pm.
Clear Springs’ swim team is at the Bob Stallings Invitation at the campus of Texas A&M University.
Friday: The high school football schedule begins at 7:00pm with Clear Brook at state-ranked Dickinson, Clear Falls at Clear Creek (Veterans Memorial), Friendswood at Magnolia West, La Marque at Sealy and Nederland at state-ranked Texas City (Victory Sportsnet).
Opening night of the 2023-24 girls basketball schedule starts with La Marque at Baytown Sterling at 6:30pm, followed by Clear Creek at Houston Memorial, Clear Falls at La Porte, Ridge Point at Clear Springs, Friendswood at Crosby, and Santa Fe at Brazoswood at 7:00pm.
Saturday: The college football schedule kicks off at 11:00am with #25 Kansas State at #7 Texas (KRIV 26) and Texas A&M at #11 Mississippi (ESPN), followed by Kennesaw State at Sam Houston State (ESPN+) at 12:00pm. Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Prairie View and Texas Southern at Jackson State (ESPN+) and Houston at Baylor (ESPN+) at 2:30pm. Texas A&M-Commerce at Lamar (ESPN+) is at 3:00pm, with Stephen F. Austin at Tarleton State (ESPN+) kicking off at 6 pm.
Santa Fe plays the final game of the high school football regular season when the Indians visit Fort Bend Willowridge at 1:00pm.
In girls basketball, state-ranked Clear Brook visits Shadow Creek at 2:30pm.
A host of high school boys basketball scrimmages includes Clear Creek at Dulles at 8:00am, and Clear Brook at Pasadena Memorial at 9:00am. Clear Springs hosts a scrimmage with Pasadena and Ridge Point at 10:00am. Westbury and Worthing at Clear Falls, La Marque at Houston Westside and Texas City at C.E. King have yet to announce the start times of their scrimmages.
The Rockets host the Kings for a 7:00 pm matchup at Toyota Center. Space City Sports Network will have the game beginning with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
