The grocery list for my contributions to our family Thanksgiving meal includes sweet potatoes. I always have a hard time choosing what a “good” sweet potato should look like. When I viewed the whole pile, well, they all looked somewhat damaged to me. So, it takes time for me to search for the good.
You know, with all the bad things occurring in the world today, it is even more important to sacrifice one day, as a free nation, to stop and honor God with thanksgiving … and acknowledge that He IS good.
God is our Creator, and we should honor Him and come together as the United States of America.

How can we honor God? By recognizing Him as our Creator. Thanking Him for His goodness. By loving/respecting our families and neighbors. And I know this may sound like just an old Sunday school teaching, but if we would just start treating other’s as we would want to be treated then we would also be honoring God.
Also, by respecting positions of authority: Parent, Teacher, Pastor, Law Enforcement, Governing Authorities. We don’t have to agree with them, and we are called to speak the truth of God’s word when it is being compromised, but we should respect the positions that they hold, and not speak from a spirit of hate against that individual. We should hate the deed but not the doer. Because positions of authority are a Godly principle. Rom. Chpt. 13)

As bad as things can seem, every one of us can find something, or rather Someone to be thankful for. We give our Heavenly Father all the honor, praise and thanks ‘giving’ … for’given’ … us JESUS from whom all blessings flow …
