The 2025-26 girls’ basketball season gets underway on Saturday, with some teams hitting the court for scrimmages before opening the regular season later next week. That comes after the penultimate Friday of the high school football regular season, highlighted by a clash between Columbia at La Marque that will decide the District 10-4A-2 title.
Wednesday: The Rockets are on the road at the Raptors beginning at 5:30 PM. Space City Home Network starts the pregame show at 5 PM.
Thursday: The next-to-last week of high school football begins with Friendswood at Kingwood Park at 7 PM.
Friday: Week 10 of the high school football season kicks into overdrive with Clear Lake at Clear Brook (Veterans Memorial) at 6 PM, while Beaumont West Brook at Ball, Clear Creek at Brazoswood, Clear Falls at state-ranked Dickinson, Deer Park at Clear Springs (Challenger Columbia) Yoakum at state-ranked Hitchcock, Columbia at state-ranked La Marque, and state-ranked Randle at Santa Fe all start at 7 PM.
Saturday: Several area high school girls’ basketball teams hit the court for scrimmages, starting with Ball at Northbrook at 9 AM, and La Marque at Santa Fe and Texas City at Baytown Lee at 10 AM. Dickinson at Atasocita, Village School at Friendswood, and state-ranked Hitchcock at Willowridge have yet to announce their start times.
The high school football week comes to a conclusion when Texas City visits Fort Bend Marshall at 11 AM (Victory Sportsnet Online).
The college football schedule starts with #9 Vanderbilt at #20 Texas (KTRK13) and West Virginia at #22 Houston (FS1) at 11 AM, followed by Alabama State at Prairie View and Lamar at Incarnate Word (ESPN+) at 2 PM. Houston Christian at Nicholls (ESPN+) is at 3 PM, while UT-Rio Grande Valley at Stephen F. Austin (ESPN+) is at 6 PM.
The Rockets visit the Celtics at 7 PM. Space City Home Network begins coverage at 6:30 PM with the pregame show.
