GALVESTON, Texas (Feb. 9, 2026) – The Galveston College Theatre Department will
showcase its award-winning student talent during “An Evening of Scenes,” a special
performance featuring scenes, monologues and short plays, scheduled for Feb. 12–13
in the Black Box Theatre on GC’s main campus.
Selections performed during “An Evening of Scenes” will be presented by GC students
at the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) Region VI Festival in Abilene on Feb.
20-24, where the college’s fall 2025 productions recently earned multiple honors for
excellence in performance, design and stage management.
GC Theatre students received several recognitions from the ACTF Region VI
Committee for their work in Jules Tasca’s “Live Drawing: A Portrait of Mona Lisa,”
directed by Adam Brandner, and Jen Silverman’s “The Moors,” directed by Liz Lacy.
Lucille Bell, Fiona Burton and Jackson Pendergrass earned Irene Ryan Acting
Scholarship Awards for their performances in “Live Drawing: A Portrait of Mona Lisa.”
The cast and crew, including Io Endsley, Aaron Gudz, Chad Keith and Jade Harmon,
also received a Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in Dedication to Their
Craft.
Additional honors were awarded for “The Moors,” with Lucille Bell, Isabella Hernandez
and Annie Homor each receiving Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Awards. Alyssa Gudz
received Meritorious Achievement recognition in Stage Management and Costume
Design.
The ACTF is a national organization dedicated to celebrating excellence in collegiate
theatre and advancing professional standards. ACTF Region VI includes colleges and
universities from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, providing
students and faculty opportunities to connect academic training with the professional
theatre world.
Performance dates at the GC main campus for “An Evening of Scenes” are Feb. 12 at 7
p.m., and Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The production is recommended for mature
audiences. Admission is free and open to the public.
Performances will take place at the college’s the Black Box Theatre, located on the
second floor of the GC Fine Arts Building, Room FA-207. Company members for “An
Evening of Scenes” include Lucille Bell, Fiona Burton, Chad Keith, Aaron Gudz, Annie
Homor, Isabella Hernandez and Jackson Pendergrass.
The GC Theatre Department offers professional, immersive training experiences for all
students within the disciplines of acting, playwrighting, directing, design, and
technology. Four productions a year and a diverse range of theatre courses provides
every opportunity for students to develop their theatrical skills. Scholarships are
available.
