The state’s largest Crystal Lagoons® amenity will be open weekends through October for Oktober Lagoonfest at Lago Mar, an event that puts a fall-themed flair to the many water activities available at the Texas City lagoon.

Oktober Lagoonfest will be open at 3240 Lago Mar Blvd. 11:00am to sunset Fridays and 10:00am to sunset Saturdays and Sundays, October 2 through November 1. Tickets for Oktober Lagoonfest start at $10 for children under age 13 and $15 for those ages 13 and older. Special savings are available on Fridays. Tickets prices are subject to change. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.oktoberlagoonfest.com.

“We are lucky to be located in the Houston area where temperatures are mild enough to extend the season for warm-weather fun,” said Uri Man, President of The Lagoon Development Company. “Throughout the summer, visitors to our lagoon enjoyed kayaking, swimming and relaxing on our white-sand beaches. We’re excited to continue the experience as the weather allows.”

Guests at Oktober Lagoonfest will be able to enjoy an inflatable obstacle course, kayaking, sailing, electric jetboards by Onean and stand-up paddleboards. In addition, Friday admissions include free yoga and HIIT cardio classes happening at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

Craft beers will be available for purchase each day from the Tap Truck and food trucks will be on hand with a varied menu — including some fall-themed items. The scheduled trucks include True Dog gourmet hot dogs and fries, Kurbside Eatz Asian Fusion, Pit King BBQ, Mr. Sizzles gourmet burgers and Gelü Artisan Italian Ice. Cocktails and frozen drinks also will be available for purchase.

The 12-acre Lago Mar lagoon offers a mile of shoreline — more than any other Crystal Lagoons amenity in the nation. It holds 24 million gallons of water and the lagoon’s liner system is large enough to cover the entire Houston Galleria mall or 14 NFL football fields. The lagoon surface is equivalent to an approximate 1,350 home swimming pools.

The lagoon is the signature feature of a future 100-acre mixed-use entertainment district being built at the entrance to Lago Mar. Future phases of development around the lagoon are planned to include hotels, condo buildings, retail, dining, entertainment, as well as a separate pay-for-access beach club with multiple beaches for the general public with a cabana pool, a two-story swim-up bar on an island, a kid’s beach with water features, a floating obstacle course and a world-class watersports facility including kayaks, paddleboards and small sailboats. Also planned is an event center with a beachfront event lawn for corporate events, weddings and concerts.

Oktober Lagoonfest will operate at a limited, below 30 percent capacity to allow for easy social distancing. Other protective measures include face masks required for entry and in designated areas, such as food and beverage lines, merchandise locations and other high-traffic areas. Staff members also wear masks and undergo daily temperature checks and health screenings. Beach and lawn furniture are cleaned and sanitized regularly, as are all restrooms and other high traffic areas.
