Sabine Lake: GOOD. 82 degrees. Redfish are good in the Bessie Heights flats. Good early morning topwater bite in the Sabine Pass Channel for redfish with trout mixed.The jetties are producing limits of trout on topwaters, and swims jigs in glo chartreuse color. The water in the ICW has cleared up and the bait fish has moved in. Trout, redfish and oversized reds are good on points, drops and rock piles in 5-15 feet of water free lining shrimp, mullet, and croaker, or using live shrimp under a popping cork. Nice trout with a slower bite near Texaco Island. Limits of speckled trout are coming on the north end with an early morning topwater bite, swimbaits or live shrimp under a popping cork on the first and second pipes off flats. Bolivar: GOOD. 82 degrees. Holding nice trout and redfish on the outside of the north jetty using live shrimp under a popping in 3-4 feet of water. Bull redfish are still fair on the bottom of both jetties and in the channel on shad, mullet, and crab. SWP still has redfish at the piers as well as sheepshead at the rocks. Trinity Bay: GOOD. 83 degrees. Smith Point to the mouth of the Trinity River is holding speckled trout. Live shrimp and soft plastics are equally effective. East Galveston Bay: GOOD. 83 degrees. Those wading with artificial lures during the early morning hours are catching a few speckled trout and redfish. Galveston Bay: GOOD. 84 degrees. Speckled trout fishing is good along the shorelines and open bay structure. Most catches are coming off live shrimp, but croakers are effective. Black drum catches have been really good, on live shrimp. Redfish action is fair, but schools have been in the area off the ship channel. Texas City: GOOD. 79 degrees. Anglers fishing with big rods and baits, are catching plenty of bull redfish and large sharks, off the jetty rocks. Holding trout, sheepshead and a few redfish at the Dike early in the morning on live shrimp under popping corks. Dollar Point to Miller Point starting to hold some trout biting on artificials. Moses Lake still has trout and redfish on live or artificials. You may catch the occasional gar on live mullet. Eagle Point to April Fool’s holding trout along the shore. Freeport: GOOD. 81 degrees. Trout and redfish are good on live shrimp, and croakers fishing the bridge and guts along the sand bars. Wading the guts at the pass and south shore of west bay has been good on topwaters and soft plastic lures. Flounder, drum and sheepshead are good in the cuts on live shrimp.
