I have been dealing with a lot of pain and illness.
I know many of you can relate. When
you get knocked down there are so many other
feelings and emotions that seem to pile on top
of the pain and illness. There are things that
you want to do and can’t. There are responsibilities
that you need to do and can’t. You can
get buried in those feelings and emotions. Having had medical issues since
my early thirties you would think that I would have figured out how not to let
it all get to me. But as I’ve aged sometimes it seems even more difficult to
handle. I spend a lot of time alone now since my husband passed, so I’ve
added facing these difficult times alone. He was always there to make it seem
easier. I just want to remind you that if you are having a tough time trying to
make it, you are not alone. I understand the feelings of guilt when you can’t
do something as simple as keeping your house cleaned or meals prepared. I
understand the feelings of hopelessness that creep in. I understand the feelings
of wanting to just give up. I also understand the courage it takes to keep
pushing on when pain or illness, or both, are haunting your every step. It’s not
easy. You are braver than you think, even when you give in to it and have to
rest awhile. You will face what you have to and keep moving on, even it you’re
limping with every step and it feels like you have no one to lean on. When you
are feeling overwhelmed by it all, physically and emotionally, take a look at
yourself through your very courageous eyes, and see beyond the pain, the
emotions, the mental turmoil, and remind yourself just how awesome you really
are. You are wise. You are brave. You are tough. You are worthy. There
can be peace, even when you feel broken and in pieces.
