Texas City High School Band program is celebrating
81 years of music education. Thousands of students
have contributed and paved the way for a rich musical
heritage that we share and enjoy here in TCISD.
The preparation for this event began for the students
in June 2018 as we began the summer break.
Several of them came weekly and volunteered their
time to learn the music for the marching show as well
as their marching equipment. Throughout the summer
our staff met with them weekly to ensure success.
We began summer band officially as a group in August
2018. Through the hot summer and rainy weeks
that would follow the Sting Band surpassed previous
years ratings.
As the Marching schedule was set for UIL performance
we drew to march after Friendswood High
School. We knew the rigor and performance edge
would have to surpass anything we had attempted
in the past as we are half their size. Our students
“stepped up to the plate” and gave it their all as
we closed in the last two weeks before UIL Region
Marching Contest.
I am proud to announce the Stingaree Marching
Band received Superior Ratings from all three judges.
According to the UIL archives this is the second
time in Sting Band History in the last 15 years that we
have received straight 1’s at contest, previous year
received was 2013.
Please congratulate these students when you see
them. It is great to finish our Contest Season on such
a high note of success!

Arts, our Principal, Holly LaRoe, and Superintendent
