Astros spend time sorting through White, Red Sox
THE ASTROS ARE the highlight of the sports weekend as they face the White Sox and Red Sox at
Minute Maid Park. There is football on the slate in the form of Clear Springs’ Blue and White
Spring game.
Wednesday: The Astros continue their four-game set against the visiting White Sox when Gerrit
Cole (4-4, 3.56 ERA) takes the mound in search of his fourth straight win. Chicago will turn to
veteran Ivan Nova (2-4, 7.42 ERA). AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage with the
pregame show at 6:30pm, leading into the first pitch at 7:10pm.
Thursday: Clear Springs will host its Blue and White Spring game beginning at 6:00pm. The
Chargers return a wealth of talent that includes quarterback Garrett Rooker, receiver/running
back/return specialist Kaleb Hymes and defensive back Kirk Collins as coach Craig Dailey’s squad
will seek to capture a fourth straight District 24-6A championship. Springs will open its 2019
regular season on August 31 when they welcome state powerhouse Converse Judson to
Challenger/Columbia Stadium.
Rookie Corbin Martin (1-0, 3.86 ERA) looks to continue his early success as he gets the start for
the Astros in the conclusion of the four-game set against the White Sox beginning at 7:10pm.
The Houston native will be opposed by Lucas Giolito, who brings a record of 5-1 and an ERA of
3.35 to the mound. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts the evening with the pregame show at
6:30pm.
Friday: After salvaging the finale of a three-game set in Fenway Park last weekend, the Red Sox
visit Minute Maid Park for the first time this season. Boston ace Chris Sale (1-5, 4.31 ERA) takes
the bump for the Red Sox after fanning 10 Astros in his start against them on Saturday evening.
Wade Miley (4-2, 3.51 ERA) will get the start for the Astros beginning at 7:10pm. AT&T
Sportsnet Southwest will begin coverage at 6:30pm with the pregame show.
Saturday: For the second straight Saturday, the Astros and Red Sox will take center stage as the
featured game on Fox. Brad Peacock (4-2, 4.01 ERA) gets the start for Houston and will be
countered by Boston hurler and former American League Cy Young Award winner David Price
(1-2, 3.75 ERA). Fox26 will have the game beginning at 6:15pm.
The Dynamo will seek to continue building on their modest two-match streak without a loss
when they head to Allianz Field in Minneapolis to take on Minnesota United FC. KUBE57 will
have the live telecast starting at 7:00pm. The match will also be televised for those who have
ESPN+.
