CAN FRIENDSWOOD SHAKE UP the 5A, Division I state rankings for a second straight week? The Mustangs toppled state-ranked Foster on Friday to improve to 6-0. A seventh straight win will be a tough task as Friendswood visits an undefeated Shadow Creek team that has run through each of their first six foes.

Challenger-Columbia will be the site of what will likely be a winner-take-all showdown between red-hot Dickinson and three-time defending District 24-6A champ Clear Springs. The Gators will get a chance at redemption after squandering a 28-0 lead and allowing the Chargers to score 35 unanswered points last season in one of the wildest games in Galveston County history.

Thursday: The week starts early with Galveston Ball visiting Fort Bend Hightower at Sugar Land’s Hall Stadium and Texas City at Rosenberg Terry. Each begins at 7:00pm.

Friday: A huge night kicks off with Clear Lake at Clear Creek (Veterans Stadium), state-ranked Dickinson at Clear Springs in a massive 24-6A showdown at Challenger-Columbia Stadium, Houston Scarborough at La Marque and Friendswood – coming off an upset of state-ranked Foster – looking for a bigger shocker at state-ranked Shadow Creek at 7:00pm. Santa Fe at Crosby and Hitchcock at Hempstead each starts at 7:30pm.

Saturday:  The lone high school game will see Alvin at Clear Falls (Veterans Stadium) kicking off at 2:00pm.

In college football, Houston begins the day’s action at Connecticut (ESPNU) at 11:00am, Virginia Lynchburg at Prairie View, Nicholls at Sam Houston State (ESPN+) and TSU at Southern each start at 2:00pm. Stephen F. Austin at Abilene Christian (ESPN+) starts at 3:00pm followed by Lamar at Incarnate Word (ESPN3) and Houston Baptist at McNeese State are both 4:00pm kickoffs, with Rice and Texas-San Antonio (ESPN3) starting at 5:00pm.

Under the lights, Kansas visits #15 Texas (Longhorn Network) at 6:00pm, followed by Texas A&M at Mississippi (SEC Network) at 6:30pm.
