
THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH will see its share of baseball, soccer and softball, but what’s not seen is that a host of area boys’ high school basketball teams competing in regional quarterfinal action. One of the games could include a monster showdown in 4A between La Marque and Houston Yates.
Sunday: There are no games scheduled for the day.
Monday: A busy high school baseball schedule will have Danbury at La Marque beginning at 5:00pm, followed by Clear Creek at La Porte and Spring Westfield at Clear Falls each starting at 7:00pm.
Friendswood, Galveston Ball, Santa Fe and Texas City will be among the schools participating in the district preview held at Moody Gardens. Ball will serve as the host team.
Texas City continues its water polo season when the Stingarees host Clear Falls at Doyle Natatorium beginning at 5:00pm.
The Rockets make their only trip to Madison Square Garden this season as they take on the Knicks at 6:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start coverage at 5:30pm with the pregame show.
Tuesday: District play begins in high school softball as Clear Creek at Clear Brook, Clear Falls at Clear Springs and Clear Lake at Dickinson get things going in 24-6A. The first two games are 6:30pm starts, with the Falcons and Panthers beginning at 6:45pm. In District 23-5A, Galveston Ball at Santa Fe and Friendswood at Texas City each open district play at 630pm.
The high school baseball schedule will have Texas City at Clear Springs and Clear Brook at St. Thomas starting at 6:00pm. Bay Area Christian visits Friendswood at 7:00pm.
In boys’ high school soccer, Texas City at Crosby, Friendswood at Galveston Ball and Goose Creek Memorial at Santa Fe each start at 7:30pm. The girls’ high school soccer slate has Galveston Ball at Friendswood, Santa Fe at Goose Creek Memorial and Crosby at Texas City also starting at 7:30pm.
