
Wednesday, April 7 at the Houston ISD Pavilion.
Both the boys and girls teams found success in the competition. The boys team placed second
overall with a score of 175.0 behind Conroe Caney Creek’s 204.0. The girls team proved
victorious in bringing home the District Championship, making them the first Girls Wrestling
team in school history to do so.
Head Wrestling Coach Matthew Byrd said he was impressed and excited for the team.
“These girls have worked hard for the past two years to make this happen,” Byrd said. “I am super proud of their efforts, character and ways they compete.”
Along with team victories, the athletes placed high in individual results, including eight
championship titles. The results are as follows:

To add to the teams’ success, Byrd was awarded the title of Girls Coach of the Year.
