“It’s not corporate,” said Danny Douglas. “It’s friendly. Personable. AND I get to play with all the toys.”
It’s rumored the man can play a guitar and knowing all else he’s built since 1981, his playing is likely as legendary.
Located on Highway 3 sits a century-old, historic Galveston County building made of adobe which is home to Danny D’s Guitar Hacienda. Inside, you will find the Houston Metroplex’s largest and most diverse guitar selection – all kinds of guitars & strings from ukuleles & Fender Stratocasters to handcrafted acoustics and even a few futuristic McPherson Carbon Series. Suffice it to say, if its guitar-related, Galveston County’s Guitar Hacienda is the place to be.
Right now, Douglas, the owner, is showcasing and selling his vintage and beloved 1959 Fender Precision Bass, all original; it’s something to see, so stop on in.
Outside of their amazing selections, in today’s market, you might be surprised at the friendly, hands-on, live instruction and experienced service that is delivered from practicing musicians on staff at Douglas’ gig. Making the place a fun, lively visit worth repeating, these guys are always ready to engage in conversations about music and gear.
Managing the whole crew is Deacon, a smiling leader that you can tell truly loves his job, and that reflects amongst his crew. In sales, you will find Drew, who is ever knowledgeable in things going on in community musical education such as the fact that many programs are sidelining the well-known wind instrument “the recorder” for ukuleles. To make things even more cool for students, Danny D’s carries a diverse selection of ukuleles for every personality, some are even painted like fruits! Crossover artist Angel works both in sales and is a specialty repairs aficionado. Every now and then you might get to run into two other hardworking guitar doctors & technicians named Andrew & Pete; these guys are busy but always cheerful & ready to help.
At Danny’s Guitar Hacienda, you can give the gift of music not only in gear but also in education because they have three musical instructors on site: Tim, George & Ken who amongst them share over 50 years of experience in teaching.
Despite all the fun debates that occur in music amongst musicians, one thing the band of brothers at Danny D’s agrees on is that music matters to community. In showing that, this non-stop music shop has been a supporting member of the local business community for decades, supported local school and private music programs, provided music clinics and special celebrity appearances for patrons and, most recently, joined a local music heals initiative for our nation’s local heroes in Galveston County by allying with Law 4 Warriors, a Texas non-profit that advocates for veterans’ rights using broad based educational awareness.
Together they are raising money and giving away over $2,000.00 in guitars & gear with proceeds also benefitting Operation Honor Our Local Veterans & Vietnam Veterans of America #685, both of Galveston County, Texas.
Danny D’s also participates in a program of League City’s convention and visitors center named “The Holiday Shopping Pass” designed to encourage shopping local! Visit The Guitar Hacienda at 200 N Hwy 3, League City, Texas. 281-338-1830 where you can give the gift of music.
