Clear Brook, Dickinson collide for area, district hoops dominance

Saturday is a must-see boys’ basketball clash between Clear Brook at Dickinson as both teams entered the week state-ranked. The two are among five basketball teams (Hitchcock, La Marque boys,’ Clear Brook girls’) that are ranked in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ poll.

Wednesday: District 24-6A boys’ basketball gets going with Brazoswood at state-ranked Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Springs and Clear Falls at Clear Lake at 7:00pm. The district’s girls’ slate will have state-ranked Clear Brook at Brazoswood, Clear Springs at Clear Creek and Clear Lake at Clear Falls at 7:00pm.

The Rockets conclude a brief two-game swing on the east coast with a visit to the Wizards beginning at 6:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts coverage with the pregame show at 5:30pm.

Thursday: Tournament play is the focus during the first week of the high school soccer regular season schedule. For the girls’, Friendswood and Santa Fe will be at the A&M Consolidated Tournament, while Texas City will be among the participants at The Woodlands Invitational. 

Meanwhile. Galveston Ball’s boys’ will host the GISD Tournament which will also feature Friendswood. Santa Fe is at the Seguin Tournament, while Texas City will be at the Pearland Tournament.

Friday: The boys’ high school basketball schedule will have state-ranked Hitchcock at Brazos at 5:00pm, followed by state-ranked La Marque at Needville at 6:30pm. Friendswood at Baytown Sterling, La Porte at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City each get underway at 7:00pm.

The girls’ high school hoops docket will have Needville at La Marque at 6:00pm, with Hitchcock at Brazos at 6:30pm. Baytown Sterling at Hitchcock, Santa Fe at La Porte and Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial all begin at 7:00pm.

The Rockets return home to take on its I-45 rival Mavericks beginning at 7:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest starts at 6:30pm with the pregame show.

The 24-6A girls’ hoops slate has Dickinson at state-ranked Clear Brook, Clear Creek at Clear Lake and Brazoswood at Clear Springs at 1:00pm.

The Cowboys visit the Eagles in the regular season finale for both playoff teams beginning at 7:15pm. KTRK13 and ESPN will both have the game live.
