Our robotics program continue to shine. Our high school
kids who have gone to the World Championships the
past two years have been mentoring the Blocker kids.
Amazing story here! More on Blocker Middle School:
They are currently the #56 ranked middle school in the
US, #502 in the world overall (including high school)
out of 2772 ranked teams. There are over 18,000 VEX
teams worldwide. They are the only middle school to
win a championship at a high school tournament in
Texas this season
Texas City High School Robotics were once again
dominant at the Pasadena ISD VEX tournament at
Lewis Career and Technical High School. All five Texas
City robots advanced to at least the quarter final round,
being knocked out only by their teammates throughout
eliminations. 590G, with their alliance partners 77590X
from Blocker Middle School and 20002B from Silsbee
High School, defeated the 590B lead alliance in the
final to take the Tournament Championship. 590G was
also awarded the Excellence Award, the highest honor
at a VEX event. 590B didn’t go home empty handed,
bringing back the Robot Skills Championship and the
Design Award.
This is the first event for the students from Blocker
Middle School. Their impressive showing not only
won them the Tournament Championship, but also
saw them finish tied for 3rd in Robot Skills at a mostly
high school event. They are currently ranked as the
#1 middle school in Robot Skills in the state of Texas.
They will join all the 590 teams at the South Texas
State Championships in February at Clear Brook High
School. They are mentored by seniors Dillon Harvey,
Zach Smith, and Junior Keilan Levesque.
