FINALLY, the weather will actually feel like fall is actually here. Those who are
planning a fishing trip on Saturday will experience breezy conditions while Sunday
will offer a chance of rain. The undeterred will find good fishing for trout on
both east and west Galveston, with bull redfish running strong in Texas City.
BOLIVAR: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on soft plastics and
plugs. Black drum and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.
Trinity Bay: Freshwater runoff from the Trinity River has made for poor fishing.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair on the south shoreline on topwaters and
soft plastics. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on
fresh shrimp. Gulf trout are good in the channel on shrimp.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good in the mud and shell on topwaters
and Corkies. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on
shrimp and crabs.
TEXAS CITY: Bull redfish are good on mullet and crabs. Sand trout are good
off the dike at night under lights. Flounder are fair along the drops on Gulps and
Chicken Boy Lures.
FREEPORT: Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs.
Bull redfish are good in Cold Pass and San Luis pass on cracked blue crabs.
Trout are fair in Christmas Bay on shrimp over reefs.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are good for drifters on live shrimp over humps
and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal and
Lake Austin on crabs and mullet.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Redfish are good in Oyster Lake on shrimp and mullet.
Trout are fair on shell and grass on soft plastics. Flounder are fair to good
on soft plastics over muddy bottoms. The Colorado River is fresh from runoff.
PORT O’CONNOR: Trout and redfish are fair on topwaters over soft mud in
waist–deep water in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working
the back lakes with live shrimp and topwaters.
