BASKETBALL IS THE foundation for the start of the new week, with high
school, college and pro hoops on the agenda. The Texans are on their
bye week, but the Cowboys will have the Sunday night spotlight in a game
that could either put them back in the NFC playoff hunt or put coach Jason
Garrett on the hot seat.
SUNDAY: The Texans are off but the Rockets will fill the Houston sports
void with their first home game since October 30 when they welcome the
Pacers for a 6:00pm start. Houston defeated Indiana in a 98-94 road win
on Monday behind 28 points from James Harden. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest
will begin its coverage with the pregame show at 5:30pm.
A season could be at stake for the Cowboys, who visit the defending
Super Bowl champion Eagles as NBC’s Sunday Night Football contest
beginning at 7:20pm. Dallas (3-5) has lost their last two games and can
ill afford to drop a third straight to a Philadelphia team that appears to be
hitting its stride and added receiver Golden Tate from the Lions to add
to their offensive arsenal. This will mark the 115th time the longtime NFC
East rivals have squared off, with the Cowboys holding a 6 3-51 edge.
MONDAY: There are a host of subvarsity girls’ and boys’ basketball
games on the schedule along with one area college basketball game as
Rice welcomes Alabama A&M to Tudor Fieldhouse beginning at 7:00pm.
TUESDAY: The girls’ basketball schedule begins at 6:00pm when Clear
Brook travels to Friendswood and Schulenburg meets state-ranked
Hitchcock. Galveston Ball at Dawson, Clear Creek at Fort Bend Elkins,
La Marque at La Porte, Clear Falls at Pearland, Pasadena at Santa Fe,
state-ranked Clear Springs at Seven Lakes and Rosenberg Terry at
Texas City each tip off at 7:00pm.
On the boys’ basketball docket, Santa Fe is at Barbers Hill, Goose
Creek Memorial at Clear Creek, Texas City at Clear Falls, Brazosport at
Galveston Ball, La Marque at Fort Bend Hightower and Clear Springs at
Manvel each start at 7:00pm while Clear Brook at Friendswood begins at
7:30pm.
Texas City’s boys’ golf team will host a meet at Bayou Golf Club, playing
guest to a host of Houston area schools.
The Rockets will play a sixth road game in their last seven when the Nuggets
welcome Houston for an 8:00pm contest. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest
starts its pregame coverage at 7:30pm.
