Diane Von Furstenburg once said ” The relationship
you have with yourself is the most
important relationship of your life.” That is certainly
very true. I once thought my husband
was most important, but when he passed I was left with just me. I also thought
it would be my children and as true as that seemed, they all grew up,some
moved out of town and out of state and began lives of their own, which is
good, but also left me with just me. Building a strong sense of self love, self
care, and self acceptance are what you need in order to have a good relation ship
with self. Learning that you are enough even when alone paves the way
for happiness with self. We often spend so much time on others needs, wants
and desires, especially during the holidays, and to give ourselves permission
to focus on self is a good thing.
I’m still learning but have made good
progress in recent years. I intend
to grow stronger in my relationship
with me as time passes. Even if you
are surrounded by friends and loved
ones take time to work on your relationship
with you. Be your own best
friend, enjoy your own company, and
be good to yourself. It will pay off in
days and years to come!
