Dickinson star makes his Mark as 24-6A MVP
DICKINSON JUNIOR Tramon Mark was selected as the District 24-6A boys’ basketball Most Valuable Player for the 2018-19 season after he led the district with 26 points per game on his way to helping the Gators win a fourth straight district title.
Mark also averaged 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game as Dickinson finished the regular season with a 21-9 record, the fourth consecutive year the program has won at least 20 games.
The 6’4 guard continues to draw attention from several of the nation’s top basketball programs, as Houston, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, TCU and Cal have presented offers to Mark, who is rated among the top 200 prospects for the class of 2020 according to 247sports.com.
Clear Creek senior Calen Anderson was selected as the district’s defensive player of the year for his efforts in helping the Wildcats to a 24-9 season. He was among the district’s leaders in steals and blocked shots as Creek allowed a district-low 631 points in 24-6A play.
The Wildcats also had the league’s top newcomer in freshman Seth Jones, whose play on both ends of the court gives Creek coach Wes Bryan a strong building stone that will come into the 2019-20 season with the bulk of its talent returning.
Clear Lake’s Jaja Sanni, who scored 13.1 points and added 4.7 assists for the Falcons, was named the district’s offensive player of the year.
Joining Mark and Anderson on the first team were Duce Guidry of Dickinson, Clear Brook’s Brandon Andrews and Paul Wilson, Hunter Smith of Clear Creek, Terrence Woodson of Clear Springs, John Argue and Casey Davis of Clear Lake and Caleb Elsey of Alvin.
The second team consists of Maurice Pinnock and Barron Tieras of Clear Creek, Francesco Ciacalese and Dorian Mason of Clear Falls, Jeremiah Campbell and Jake Mather of Clear Lake, Kyle Burt and Garrett Rooker of Clear Springs and Dickinson’s Jalen Wydermyer and Jabari Miller.
