MARCH ROLLS IN WITH HUGE WEEKEND OF AREA SPORT

Wednesday: The Rockets will at the Hornets beginning at 6:00pm. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest will start its coverage with the pregame show at 5:30pm.
Thursday: The area baseball focus will be at the Clear Creek ISD Tournament, where Clears Brook, Creek, Falls, Lake and Springs will be joined by the likes of Friendswood and a host of other Houston area squads for the annual three-day event. Meanwhile, Dickinson is at the Crosby Tournament, while Galveston Ball will head to the Barbers Hill Tournament. Hitchcock travels to Anahuac for the Panthers Tournament, with La Marque among the teams taking part in the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Tournament. Santa Fe will be among a crowded field at the Brenham Tournament, with Texas City participates in the Brazosport Tournament.
Galveston Ball will be the only area softball team in tournament play, as the Tors will take part in the Lamar Consolidated Tournament.
There’s no rest for the weary as the Rockets return home to face the Heat at Toyota Center for a 7:00pm tip. AT&T Sportsnet Southwest hits the airwaves with the pregame show at 6:30pm.
In track and field, Texas City’s boys will be at Texas State in San Marcos for the Bobcat Relays.
Friday: The regular season in soccer approaches its conclusion, as the boys’ schedule will have Clear Falls at Alvin, Clear Creek at Clear Lake, Galveston Ball at Crosby, Clear Springs at Dickinson, Friendswood at Galena Park, Baytown Lee at Santa Fe and Goose Creek Memorial at Texas City, with each match beginning at 7:30pm.
The girls’ soccer schedule will have Santa Fe at Baytown Lee, Clear Lake at Clear Creek, Alvin at Clear Falls, Dickinson at Clear Springs, Galena Park at Friendswood, Crosby at Galveston Ball and Texas City at Goose Creek Memorial all starting at 7:30pm.
It’s a busy day of track and field, as Santa Fe hosts the Reggie Crosby Relays at Indian Stadium. Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Galveston Ball and Texas City will be among the schools participating in the event. Dickinson plays host to the Gators Relays, which will see a host of top-end teams from the region dropping into Sam Vitanza Stadium. Clear Springs will be at the Clear Lake Invitational, while La Marque is at the Spartan Relays in Stafford.
In softball, Fort Bend Elkins at Clear Falls begins the evening’s schedule at 6:00pm, followed by Friendswood at Clear Brook, La Porte at Dickinson and Brazosport at Texas City each starting at 6:30pm.
Boys’ golf action will see Clear Creek hosting at Moody Gardens, with fellow CCISD schools, Clear Brook, Clear Falls and Clear Springs among the teams in the field for the two-day event. The girls’ golf teams of Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Clear Falls are at Pebble Creek Golf Course in College Station for a two-day meet hosted by A&M Consolidated.
Clear Springs, Santa Fe and Texas City are among the schools at the La Porte Tennis Tournament, while Clear Creek and Clear Falls will be at the two-day I-10 Corridor Invitational tennis tournament in Spring Branch.
Area powerlifters will move bid to advance to the state finals in Abilene later this month as Dickinson High School will be the site for the regional finals.
Blocker Junior High School and Texas City High School will be the sites for an AAU boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament that runs through Sunday. A host of the state’s top teams will also be joined by a handful of the nation’s premier squads that will feature top players in their respective age groups.
Saturday: Clear Falls’ track and field team will be in action at the Walter Heintschel Relays in Houston.
