Reach Out And Touch
Every day, I look for opportunities to say or do something kind or helpful for another person.  The desire came from my heart many years ago, and has grown from small gestures, to at one time, working with many homeless people every day.  I ran across a quote that kept the embers of the fire inside of me burning, from F. Scott Fitzgerald, which said, “The true measure of a person is how they treat someone who can do them absolutely no good.”  It’s easy to do good deeds for your family and friends, and often they reciprocate in kind.  But I truly want to find those who cannot repay me in any way.  I don’t want their money or for them to work for me to pay it off.  I treat people the same, no matter who they are, or where they live.  It is when all of us begin to reach out together, touching one life at a time, that we start to see a real difference in our communities, our cities, and it can grow from there.  It can happen in February(when we celebrate a love holiday) and again in March, and not just be brought to mind at Thanksgiving and Christmas!  It just takes having a desire in your heart and a committed spirit to do one small thing. When each of us do one small thing it will bring about change from hearts that seek to love. Do you know someone having a tough time right now? Maybe a bag of groceries might help them out, or a tank of gasoline.  Little things like that can make a difference in someone’s life.  Re-read the quote, and find out how you are measuring up right now.  If it’s time to make some changes, don’t you dare feel bad if you’ve been a little slack in your giving habits!  In fact, it’s time to get excited, because some wonderful things are about to happen, and the end results will be blessings all around!
